SSHOC Workshop: Using Corpora for Implementing Validation. Workflows that combine quantity and quality

Lowering the costs of integrating quantitative and qualitative steps in workflows using corpora in social science research designs is a major objective of Research Infrastructures such as CLARIN, and of the polmineR package, an open source R package available at the Comprehensive R Archive Network / CRAN.

This workshop addresses the challenges that specific user communities experience when contributing to SSHOC, the availability of procedures, tools and services to address these challenges, and the extent that these procedures, tools and services are sufficiently applicable for specific user communities, which is one of the major goals of the SSHOC project, tackled within WP9.

Services to support FAIR Data: 3rd workshop “Synergies for Sustainable, Open and Responsible Research”

The third and final series of workshop on Services to support FAIR data, co-organised by FAIRsFAIR,  OpenAIRE, FIT4RRI and EOSC Secretariat will be held in Porto (Portugal) on 16-18 September, during the 2nd Open Science Fair Conference, OSFair2019,  entitled “Synergies for Sustainable, Open and Responsible Research”.
It is locally curated by the University of Minho, a FAIRsFAIR partner.

Building EOSC through the H2020 projects

As one of the five EOSC Cluster Projects, SSHOC has been invited to participate in the EOSC Concertation Meeting jointly organised by DG CNECT and DG RTD on 9 and 10 September 2019.

The workshop aims to increase the visibility of the EOSC-related projects funded by the DGs CNECT and RTD, explore their current state of achievement and discuss issues and potential regarding the next steps towards building the EOSC. In addition to all currently active EOSC-related projects funded from the H2020 programme by the DGs CNECT and RTD, the meeting also provides an opportunity to interact with the members of the Governance and Executive Boards and to understand the work done within these bodies.

"Culture & Technology" European Summer University in Digital Humanities

On 2 August 2019 Franciska de Jong, executive director of the SSHOC partner organisation CLARIN ERIC, will give a lecture at the "Culture & Technology" European Summer University in Digital Humanities in Leipzig, Germany. The session, titled "Language as social and cultural data" will present case studies derived from the SSHOC project.

IC2S2 - International Conference in Computational Social Science

IC2S2 brings together researchers in computational science, complexity, and social science, and provides a platform for new work in the field of computational social science.

The three day conference will take place at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands from July 18 to 20.

8th ESRA Conference - Highlighting the contribution of survey research in the changing data environment

ESRA's 8th Conference will be held in Zagreb, Croatia, from 15th to 19th July 2019. The conference will be hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Zagreb.

The event is sponsored by SSHOC partner ESS, the European Social Survey and collaborating organisation GESIS, the Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, while a consistent number of other partners will be involved throughout all the conference.

EOSC Webinar - Building the European Open Science Cloud
