Realising the Social Sciences and Humanities for the European Open Science Cloud - EOSC Hub

The Social Sciences and Humanities Open Science Cloud (SSHOC) is one of the five European Union H2020 Programme “ INFRA-EOSC-2018” recently funded cluster projects (together with ENVRI-FAIR, PANOSC, ESCAPE, EOSC-LIFE) that will leverage and interconnect existing and new infrastructures from the SSH ERICs and foster interdisciplinary research and collaboration. A task force will be set up with EOSC-hub project to exchange and harmonize views on common themes, and existing contacts with other European and international organizations operating in and around the EOSC space will be invited to engage in the process.

A Marketplace for the Social Sciences and Humanities

One of the SSHOC project’s core objectives is to foster the transition from the current Social Sciences and Humanities landscape into a cloud-based infrastructure, that will operate according to the FAIR principles, offering access to research data and related services adapted to the needs of the SSH community. Furthermore, the tools, services, repositories and other resources brought in by project partners or generated during the course of the project will be featured in the SSH Marketplace.

Realising the Social Sciences and Humanities part of the European Open Science Cloud - Liber

All SSH ESFRI Landmarks and Projects (CESSDA, ESS, DARIAH, CLARIN and SHARE), relevant international SSH data infrastructures and the Association of European Research Libraries (LIBER) participate in the SSHOC project ensuring an inclusive approach.

Three Pillars of the Social Sciences & Humanities Open Marketplace

The SSH Open Marketplace is the only fully-integrated discovery portal which pools and harmonises the tools and services useful for the SSH research communities, offering a high quality and contextualised answer at every step of the research data life cycle.

Social Sciences and Humanities Community Building: Training - Open Science FAIR

Building expertise and exploiting the potential within the existing partner network are two key elements in the SSHOC project. With the eventual aim of creating a definitive SSHOC Train the Trainer Toolkit and establishing the SSHOC Training Network, initial activities by the team responsible for “Fostering Communities, Empowering Users & Building Expertise” include: mapping the SSH landscape, gap analysis,     organising training events and workshops, identifying potential training nodes, creating learning materials.

Realising the Social Sciences and Humanities for the European Open Science Cloud - CLARIN

CLARIN will bring to SSHOC its expertise in Language Technology, and some of its core technical infrastructure components. Generalizing and adapting our services for processing data from the social sciences and cultural heritage where needed. The SSH will profit from this as CLARIN will from the assets and expertise of the other SSHOC stakeholder infrastructures. Together we will also assure the position of the SSH in the new to develop EOSC.
